Tablature

In high school, I used to look up tabs on the internet to Led Zeppelin songs all the time. But there was always something slightly off about them. Here you can find tabs for Timber tracks as I play them.

Click the links below to view download tabs, or enjoy hearing the computer play a version of the songs. Check back for updates!

BTW these tabs take time to transcribe, and there are also fees to host them on Flat.io. If you're getting value out of these tabs, feel free to offer a tip.

Newest Tabs: Eight of Wands, Itinerant Star, and Back to New

Tabs are now available for all Timber tunes. Thanks a ton for your interest.

All Tabs

  • Silent Advance

First song on the record. Uses alternating thumb pattern for the bass strings.

  • Three-Legged Buddha

The peppiest song on the album, one of the more difficult ones to play.

  • Everywhere But Up

This one has a more intricate alternating bass line. Includes parts for the second and bonus dobro; you can toggle those on and off in Flat by clicking the button shaped like a guitar.

  • Peacocks in fur

The one 3/4 song on Timber. 12-string part not included here.

  • Téléphérique

Same picking pattern as “Zoopraxiscope.” Thumb, index, middle, ring.

  • Nothing's Fifty-Fifty

    Doesn’t include 12-string parts.

  • How the Grape Ripens

Good starting point if you’re just getting into finger-picking.

  • Eight of Wands

Make sure to play this one with a little swing. Tab not guaranteed 100% accurate.

  • Itinerant Star

This ones in a funny tuning that produces some interesting tenor melodic possibilities because the G string is tuned to the same pitch as the D string: D-A-D-D-A-E.

  • Storm Queen

A blues-ier tune with a chromatic descending bass line.

  • Back to New

This is the least listened to song on the record, but I always had a soft spot for it, as it was one of the first written.

  • Zoopraxiscope

You’ll need to use the ring finger on your right hand for this one (try thumb > index > middle > ring finger).
